Community's building - Galeria Kaufhof Stuttgart

The Galeria Kaufhof in Stuttgart is owned by the city. It is not used as a mall since the Galeria Kaufhof franchise reduced their branches. This project states that, as a public owned unused building it is subject to the urban citizens interest. Thus it implements a model proces on informing the public and getting them involved into participating through workshops of which the outcome will be merged into an ever-evolving design.

Exhibition

The model process resulted in the Masters Thesis presentation after one iteration per format. All results were evaluated and all items collected to set up an exhibition to which all the workshop participants and all other people were invited to gather one final time and share the experiences and informations they gained. It is guiding guests from the theoretical background followed by kart tour and the three workshops towards the state of design at the day of presentation. That concep is the genuine outcome from the participants voices. In order to give their engagement a real chance for actual impact the project was proposed on the Stuttgarter Bürgerhaushalt 2025.
